Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
A tobacco sub-ohm kit from the online options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.05 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
The short version: tobacco in San José works if the sub-ohm kit, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a tobacco sub-ohm kit really costs in San José
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
How we tested tobacco in a sub-ohm kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the sub-ohm kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Coil type inside the sub-ohm kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tobacco tastes flat after two days.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long tobacco in San José survives.
The rules that apply here

Frequently asked questions
Why does tobacco taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the sub-ohm kit units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the tobacco blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should tobacco start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a sub-ohm kit.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On tobacco the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡3.05 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
