Tobacco RDA IQOS in San José: the order shortlist
Tobacco in San José: 21 units tested over 7 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a RDA for tobacco
Tobacco RDA reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 21 units and 7 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
The honest read on tobacco: 21 units through the same routine over 7 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
Below is the run we did for this search: 21 units, RDA, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a tobacco RDA really costs in San José
If you are looking at tobacco in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the RDA you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
How we tested tobacco in a RDA
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the RDA that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Coil type inside the RDA, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Stock depth: 21 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡46 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.32 per 10 ml.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why tobacco tastes flat after two days.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
Do you ship tracked orders to Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Why does tobacco taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the RDA units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the tobacco blend itself harsh.
How much does a RDA cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.32 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡46 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
