Sweet starter kit IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Sweet in San José: 7 units tested over 2 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a starter kit for sweet
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
A sweet starter kit from the cheapest options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.42 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
The short version: sweet in San José works if the starter kit, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a sweet starter kit really costs in San José
Sweet sounds like one product. It is not: a starter kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested sweet in a starter kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Coil type inside the starter kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Spare parts availability for starter kit in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
Where sweet goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest starter kit available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Treating the advertised ₡31 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.42 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should sweet start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a starter kit.
Why does sweet taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the sweet blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On sweet the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.42 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
