Sweet pen device IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Sweet in San José: 19 units tested over 2 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with sweet in Costa Rica
A sweet pen device from the cheapest options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.46 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
The short version: sweet in San José works if the pen device, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a sweet pen device really costs in San José
Sweet sounds like one product. It is not: a pen device running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested sweet in a pen device
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Stock depth: 19 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where sweet goes wrong
- Mixing sweet with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why sweet tastes flat after two days.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long sweet in San José survives.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Why does sweet taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the sweet blend itself harsh.
Is sweet legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
How long does sweet in a pen device last?
In San José we measured 2 to 19 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
