Sour starter kit IQOS in San José: the online shortlist
Sour in San José: 21 units tested over 3 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
What the label on Sour is allowed to say
Sour prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.01 per 10 ml.
A sour starter kit from the online options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.01 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
If you only read one line: the starter kit you buy decides how long sour tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a sour starter kit really costs in San José
Sour sounds like one product. It is not: a starter kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested sour in a starter kit
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Batch code and production date, so a sour bottle turned in 3 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where sour goes wrong
- Mixing sour with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Chasing a discount on a starter kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Packaging for sour in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
