Sour nicotine salt bottle IQOS in San José: the best shortlist
Sour in San José: 9 units tested over 9 weeks, nicotine salt bottle formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Ordering IQOS to San José: the practical version
Sour prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.13 per 10 ml.
Sour sounds like one product. It is not: a nicotine salt bottle running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
Below is the run we did for this search: 9 units, nicotine salt bottle, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a sour nicotine salt bottle really costs in San José
Sour nicotine salt bottle reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 9 units and 9 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
How we tested sour in a nicotine salt bottle
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the nicotine salt bottle that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every sour bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Stock depth: 9 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where sour goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long sour in San José survives.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Treating the advertised ₡34 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.13 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a nicotine salt bottle cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡3.13 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡34 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
What nicotine strength should sour start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a nicotine salt bottle.
Why does sour taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the nicotine salt bottle units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the sour blend itself harsh.
