Sour box mod IQOS in San José: the price shortlist
Sour in San José: 18 units tested over 6 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Delivery, returns and what 4–9 business days really means
Sour box mod reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 18 units and 6 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Sour in San José reaches the shelf in box mod formats, and the value ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
The short version: sour in San José works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a sour box mod really costs in San José
Sour prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.87 per 10 ml.
How we tested sour in a box mod
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Coil type inside the box mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every sour bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where sour goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡36 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡1.87 per 10 ml.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Ignoring the batch date on a box mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Packaging for sour in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On sour the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡1.87 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
Do you ship tracked orders to Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Why does sour taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the sour blend itself harsh.
