Salted squonk mod IQOS in San José: the online shortlist
Salted in San José: 8 units tested over 9 weeks, squonk mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good squonk mod from a repack
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
We run salted the same way in San José: same squonk mod, same 9 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: salted in San José works if the squonk mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a salted squonk mod really costs in San José
A salted squonk mod from the online options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.9 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested salted in a squonk mod
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the squonk mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a squonk mod arrives sealed but wrong.
- Batch code and production date, so a salted bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Coil type inside the squonk mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where salted goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡34 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.9 per 10 ml.
- Mixing salted with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Ignoring the batch date on a squonk mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
How long does salted in a squonk mod last?
In San José we measured 9 to 8 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should salted start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a squonk mod.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On salted the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.9 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
