Plum pen device IQOS in San José: the price shortlist
Plum in San José: 16 units tested over 5 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with plum in Costa Rica
If you are looking at plum in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the pen device you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
We run plum the same way in San José: same pen device, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Below is the run we did for this search: 16 units, pen device, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a plum pen device really costs in San José
Plum prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.54 per 10 ml.
How we tested plum in a pen device
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Spare parts availability for pen device in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every plum bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where plum goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Buying the cheapest pen device available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Ignoring the batch date on a pen device and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for plum in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Frequently asked questions
How long does plum in a pen device last?
In San José we measured 5 to 16 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Can I order IQOS online in Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 4–9 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
Why does plum taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the plum blend itself harsh.
