Plum pen device IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Plum in San José: 12 units tested over 4 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Plum prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.27 per 10 ml.
Plum pen device reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 12 units and 4 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Below is the run we did for this search: 12 units, pen device, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a plum pen device really costs in San José
Plum sounds like one product. It is not: a pen device running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested plum in a pen device
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every plum bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
Where plum goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ignoring the batch date on a pen device and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Packaging for plum in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
