Plum cartomizer IQOS in San José: the price shortlist
Plum in San José: 24 units tested over 7 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the plum habit
Plum in San José reaches the shelf in cartomizer formats, and the value ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
If you only read one line: the cartomizer you buy decides how long plum tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a plum cartomizer really costs in San José
A plum cartomizer from the value options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.41 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested plum in a cartomizer
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Stock depth: 24 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every plum bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
Where plum goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a cartomizer that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long plum in San José survives.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Frequently asked questions
Why does plum taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the plum blend itself harsh.
How long does plum in a cartomizer last?
In San José we measured 7 to 24 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
How much does a cartomizer cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡3.41 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡30 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
