Plain zero-nicotine bottle IQOS in San José: the best shortlist
Plain in San José: 7 units tested over 3 weeks, zero-nicotine bottle formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Delivery, returns and what 4–9 business days really means
A plain zero-nicotine bottle from the best options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.08 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
If you only read one line: the zero-nicotine bottle you buy decides how long plain tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.

How we tested plain in a zero-nicotine bottle
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the zero-nicotine bottle, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a zero-nicotine bottle arrives sealed but wrong.
Where plain goes wrong
- Mixing plain with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Ignoring the batch date on a zero-nicotine bottle and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Treating the advertised ₡63 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.08 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
