Plain refill pack IQOS in San José: the price shortlist
Plain in San José: 21 units tested over 2 weeks, refill pack formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good refill pack from a repack
Plain prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.47 per 10 ml.
We run plain the same way in San José: same refill pack, same 2 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: plain in San José works if the refill pack, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a plain refill pack really costs in San José
Plain refill pack reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 21 units and 2 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
How we tested plain in a refill pack
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the refill pack that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the refill pack, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every plain bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
Where plain goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a refill pack that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On plain the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡3.47 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
What nicotine strength should plain start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a refill pack.
How long does plain in a refill pack last?
In San José we measured 2 to 21 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
