Plain RDA IQOS in San José: the flat shortlist
Plain in San José: 14 units tested over 7 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with plain in Costa Rica
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
Plain in San José reaches the shelf in RDA formats, and the flat-rate ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
If you only read one line: the RDA you buy decides how long plain tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a plain RDA really costs in San José
We run plain the same way in San José: same RDA, same 7 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested plain in a RDA
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the RDA that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Coil type inside the RDA, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Spare parts availability for RDA in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Stock depth: 14 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every plain bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
Where plain goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡35 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.08 per 10 ml.
- Ignoring the batch date on a RDA and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why plain tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

| Entry kit | ₡35 | What a first order really pays |
| Refill cost | ₡3.08 / 10 ml | The figure that decides the habit |
