Plain RDA IQOS in San José: the deals shortlist
Plain in San José: 12 units tested over 6 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Delivery, returns and what 4–9 business days really means
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
Plain in San José reaches the shelf in RDA formats, and the discounted ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
Below is the run we did for this search: 12 units, RDA, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a plain RDA really costs in San José
We run plain the same way in San José: same RDA, same 6 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested plain in a RDA
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the RDA that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a plain bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a RDA arrives sealed but wrong.
- Spare parts availability for RDA in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
Where plain goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a RDA and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long plain in San José survives.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Packaging for plain in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
Why does plain taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the RDA units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the plain blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should plain start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a RDA.
How much does a RDA cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.34 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡38 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
