Plain mesh tank IQOS in San José: the guide shortlist
Plain in San José: 21 units tested over 9 weeks, mesh tank formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the plain habit
If you are looking at plain in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the mesh tank you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
The honest read on plain: 21 units through the same routine over 9 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
Below is the run we did for this search: 21 units, mesh tank, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a plain mesh tank really costs in San José
Plain in San José reaches the shelf in mesh tank formats, and the starter ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
How we tested plain in a mesh tank
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the mesh tank that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a plain bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where plain goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest mesh tank available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a mesh tank that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a mesh tank cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.55 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡68 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On plain the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.55 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
Why does plain taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the mesh tank units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the plain blend itself harsh.
