Plain 100 ml bottle IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Plain in San José: 14 units tested over 4 weeks, 100 ml bottle formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Ordering IQOS to San José: the practical version
If you are looking at plain in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the 100 ml bottle you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
We run plain the same way in San José: same 100 ml bottle, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: plain in San José works if the 100 ml bottle, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a plain 100 ml bottle really costs in San José
The honest read on plain: 14 units through the same routine over 4 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested plain in a 100 ml bottle
- Pick the 100 ml bottle that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Stock depth: 14 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every plain bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Coil type inside the 100 ml bottle, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where plain goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest 100 ml bottle available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Mixing plain with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Chasing a discount on a 100 ml bottle that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.

On the last run in San José: about ₡3.03 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡50 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
