Pear cartomizer IQOS in San José: the guide shortlist
Pear in San José: 10 units tested over 5 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Pear in San José reaches the shelf in cartomizer formats, and the starter ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
A pear cartomizer from the starter options in Costa Rica costs about ₡1.74 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
The short version: pear in San José works if the cartomizer, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a pear cartomizer really costs in San José
Pear prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.74 per 10 ml.
How we tested pear in a cartomizer
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Stock depth: 10 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a cartomizer arrives sealed but wrong.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where pear goes wrong
- Mixing pear with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Treating the advertised ₡37 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡1.74 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
