Pear box mod IQOS in San José: the guide shortlist
Pear in San José: 17 units tested over 9 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How we tested Pear box mod here
We run pear the same way in San José: same box mod, same 9 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Pear prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.59 per 10 ml.
The short version: pear in San José works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a pear box mod really costs in San José
Pear in a box mod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested pear in a box mod
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every pear bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where pear goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long pear in San José survives.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
How long does pear in a box mod last?
In San José we measured 9 to 17 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
How much does a box mod cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.59 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡31 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Why does pear taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the pear blend itself harsh.
