Pear 30 ml shortfill IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Pear in San José: 19 units tested over 5 weeks, 30 ml shortfill formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How we tested Pear 30 ml shortfill here
Pear 30 ml shortfill reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 19 units and 5 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Pear sounds like one product. It is not: a 30 ml shortfill running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
If you only read one line: the 30 ml shortfill you buy decides how long pear tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a pear 30 ml shortfill really costs in San José
Pear in a 30 ml shortfill is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested pear in a 30 ml shortfill
- Pick the 30 ml shortfill that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a 30 ml shortfill arrives sealed but wrong.
- Batch code and production date, so a pear bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where pear goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a 30 ml shortfill and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Chasing a discount on a 30 ml shortfill that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for pear in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a 30 ml shortfill cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡1.98 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡29 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Why does pear taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the 30 ml shortfill units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the pear blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On pear the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡1.98 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
