Nutty pen device IQOS in San José: the price shortlist
Nutty in San José: 23 units tested over 5 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good pen device from a repack
Nutty pen device reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 23 units and 5 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Nutty in San José reaches the shelf in pen device formats, and the value ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
Below is the run we did for this search: 23 units, pen device, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a nutty pen device really costs in San José
The honest read on nutty: 23 units through the same routine over 5 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested nutty in a pen device
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Stock depth: 23 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Batch code and production date, so a nutty bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where nutty goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡68 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.21 per 10 ml.
- Ignoring the batch date on a pen device and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why nutty tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should nutty start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a pen device.
Why does nutty taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the nutty blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On nutty the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡3.21 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
