Mintice starter kit IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Mintice in San José: 10 units tested over 8 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Mintice prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.33 per 10 ml.
Mintice in a starter kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
The short version: mintice in San José works if the starter kit, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a mintice starter kit really costs in San José
Mintice prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.33 per 10 ml.
How we tested mintice in a starter kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the starter kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Batch code and production date, so a mintice bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where mintice goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Mixing mintice with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why mintice tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Packaging for mintice in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
How long does mintice in a starter kit last?
In San José we measured 8 to 10 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Why does mintice taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the mintice blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should mintice start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a starter kit.
