Mint box mod IQOS in San José: the flat shortlist
Mint in San José: 7 units tested over 3 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
A mint box mod from the flat-rate options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.66 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
Mint in a box mod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
The short version: mint in San José works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a mint box mod really costs in San José
A mint box mod from the flat-rate options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.66 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested mint in a box mod
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the box mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a box mod arrives sealed but wrong.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where mint goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long mint in San José survives.
- Mixing mint with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Chasing a discount on a box mod that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
How long does mint in a box mod last?
In San José we measured 3 to 7 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Why does mint taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the mint blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On mint the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.66 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
