Mint box mod IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Mint in San José: 8 units tested over 5 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the mint habit
The honest read on mint: 8 units through the same routine over 5 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
We run mint the same way in San José: same box mod, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: mint in San José works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a mint box mod really costs in San José

How we tested mint in a box mod
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a box mod arrives sealed but wrong.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where mint goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a box mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Treating the advertised ₡43 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.4 per 10 ml.
- Buying the cheapest box mod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
