Melon vape pen IQOS in San José: the order shortlist
Melon in San José: 6 units tested over 2 weeks, vape pen formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the melon habit
Melon vape pen reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 6 units and 2 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
If you are looking at melon in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the vape pen you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
The short version: melon in San José works if the vape pen, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a melon vape pen really costs in San José
The honest read on melon: 6 units through the same routine over 2 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested melon in a vape pen
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the vape pen that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Stock depth: 6 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Coil type inside the vape pen, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where melon goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest vape pen available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why melon tastes flat after two days.
- Mixing melon with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here

Frequently asked questions
How long does melon in a vape pen last?
In San José we measured 2 to 6 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should melon start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a vape pen.
Why does melon taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the vape pen units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the melon blend itself harsh.
