Melon pen device IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Melon in San José: 8 units tested over 6 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a pen device for melon
If you are looking at melon in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the pen device you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
Melon pen device reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 8 units and 6 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Below is the run we did for this search: 8 units, pen device, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a melon pen device really costs in San José
A melon pen device from the budget options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.84 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested melon in a pen device
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
Where melon goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ignoring the batch date on a pen device and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Packaging for melon in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a pen device cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.84 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡61 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Do you ship tracked orders to Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Why does melon taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the melon blend itself harsh.
