Lime sub-ohm kit IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Lime in San José: 20 units tested over 8 weeks, sub-ohm kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the lime habit
Lime in San José reaches the shelf in sub-ohm kit formats, and the budget ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
Lime in a sub-ohm kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
If you only read one line: the sub-ohm kit you buy decides how long lime tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a lime sub-ohm kit really costs in San José

How we tested lime in a sub-ohm kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a sub-ohm kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Spare parts availability for sub-ohm kit in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Batch code and production date, so a lime bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where lime goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest sub-ohm kit available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a sub-ohm kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a sub-ohm kit cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.67 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡67 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Why does lime taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the sub-ohm kit units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the lime blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should lime start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a sub-ohm kit.
