Lime pen device IQOS in San José: the deals shortlist
Lime in San José: 13 units tested over 6 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How we tested Lime pen device here
Lime sounds like one product. It is not: a pen device running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
The short version: lime in San José works if the pen device, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a lime pen device really costs in San José
Lime pen device reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 13 units and 6 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
How we tested lime in a pen device
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every lime bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Batch code and production date, so a lime bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where lime goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long lime in San José survives.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Treating the advertised ₡29 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡1.75 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Packaging for lime in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
Why does lime taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the lime blend itself harsh.
How much does a pen device cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡1.75 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡29 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On lime the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡1.75 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
