Licorice vape pen IQOS in San José: the online shortlist
Licorice in San José: 15 units tested over 6 weeks, vape pen formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
What licorice costs in San José
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
Licorice vape pen reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 15 units and 6 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
The short version: licorice in San José works if the vape pen, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a licorice vape pen really costs in San José
Licorice in a vape pen is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested licorice in a vape pen
- Pick the vape pen that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every licorice bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Stock depth: 15 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Coil type inside the vape pen, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where licorice goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a vape pen that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Treating the advertised ₡41 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.66 per 10 ml.
- Buying the cheapest vape pen available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should licorice start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a vape pen.
Why does licorice taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the vape pen units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the licorice blend itself harsh.
How much does a vape pen cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.66 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡41 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
