Licorice refill pack IQOS in San José: the compare shortlist
Licorice in San José: 21 units tested over 6 weeks, refill pack formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the licorice habit
Licorice in a refill pack is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Licorice refill pack reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 21 units and 6 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
The short version: licorice in San José works if the refill pack, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a licorice refill pack really costs in San José

How we tested licorice in a refill pack
- Pick the refill pack that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a refill pack arrives sealed but wrong.
- Batch code and production date, so a licorice bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Stock depth: 21 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where licorice goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a refill pack and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Buying the cheapest refill pack available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Treating the advertised ₡46 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡1.85 per 10 ml.

Frequently asked questions
Is licorice legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Why does licorice taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the refill pack units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the licorice blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On licorice the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡1.85 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
