Licorice RDA IQOS in San José: the flat shortlist
Licorice in San José: 13 units tested over 7 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good RDA from a repack
Licorice in a RDA is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
If you only read one line: the RDA you buy decides how long licorice tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a licorice RDA really costs in San José
We run licorice the same way in San José: same RDA, same 7 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested licorice in a RDA
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the RDA that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Stock depth: 13 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Batch code and production date, so a licorice bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Coil type inside the RDA, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Spare parts availability for RDA in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
Where licorice goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a RDA that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for licorice in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should licorice start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a RDA.
Why does licorice taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the RDA units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the licorice blend itself harsh.
How much does a RDA cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.8 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡29 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
