Iced pen device IQOS in San José: the flat shortlist
Iced in San José: 15 units tested over 9 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good pen device from a repack
We run iced the same way in San José: same pen device, same 9 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Iced in San José reaches the shelf in pen device formats, and the flat-rate ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
If you only read one line: the pen device you buy decides how long iced tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a iced pen device really costs in San José
Iced prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.24 per 10 ml.
How we tested iced in a pen device
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Batch code and production date, so a iced bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where iced goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest pen device available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Treating the advertised ₡40 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.24 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
