Iced cartomizer IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Iced in San José: 16 units tested over 8 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Ordering IQOS to San José: the practical version
Iced sounds like one product. It is not: a cartomizer running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
A iced cartomizer from the budget options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.51 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
If you only read one line: the cartomizer you buy decides how long iced tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a iced cartomizer really costs in San José
The honest read on iced: 16 units through the same routine over 8 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested iced in a cartomizer
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a iced bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Coil type inside the cartomizer, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where iced goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡38 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.51 per 10 ml.
- Buying the cheapest cartomizer available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a cartomizer that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should iced start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a cartomizer.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On iced the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡3.51 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
Why does iced taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the iced blend itself harsh.
