Iced box mod IQOS in San José: the review shortlist
Iced in San José: 15 units tested over 8 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a box mod for iced
Iced box mod reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 15 units and 8 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Iced prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.83 per 10 ml.
The short version: iced in San José works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a iced box mod really costs in San José
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
How we tested iced in a box mod
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Coil type inside the box mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every iced bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Batch code and production date, so a iced bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Stock depth: 15 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where iced goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long iced in San José survives.
- Treating the advertised ₡38 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.83 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
