Herbal cartomizer IQOS in San José: the review shortlist
Herbal in San José: 7 units tested over 2 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Ordering IQOS to San José: the practical version
A herbal cartomizer from the reviewed options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.56 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
The honest read on herbal: 7 units through the same routine over 2 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
The short version: herbal in San José works if the cartomizer, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a herbal cartomizer really costs in San José
Herbal sounds like one product. It is not: a cartomizer running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested herbal in a cartomizer
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Stock depth: 7 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every herbal bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
Where herbal goes wrong
- Mixing herbal with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ignoring the batch date on a cartomizer and discovering the listed price was for old stock.

Frequently asked questions
Why does herbal taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the herbal blend itself harsh.
Do you ship tracked orders to Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
What nicotine strength should herbal start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a cartomizer.
