The short version: guava in San José works if the pen device, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a guava pen device really costs in San José
Guava pen device reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 24 units and 4 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
How we tested guava in a pen device
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pen device arrives sealed but wrong.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where guava goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.

Frequently asked questions
How long does guava in a pen device last?
In San José we measured 4 to 24 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should guava start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a pen device.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On guava the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.37 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
