Graphite refill pack IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Graphite in San José: 18 units tested over 4 weeks, refill pack formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the graphite habit
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
A graphite refill pack from the budget options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.49 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
If you only read one line: the refill pack you buy decides how long graphite tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a graphite refill pack really costs in San José
Graphite prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.49 per 10 ml.
How we tested graphite in a refill pack
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every graphite bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Stock depth: 18 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where graphite goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a refill pack and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Mixing graphite with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Chasing a discount on a refill pack that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Packaging for graphite in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On graphite the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.49 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
Why does graphite taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the refill pack units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the graphite blend itself harsh.
Can I order IQOS online in Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 4–9 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
