Graphite RDA IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Graphite in San José: 18 units tested over 2 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the graphite habit
If you are looking at graphite in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the RDA you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
Graphite prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.86 per 10 ml.
The short version: graphite in San José works if the RDA, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a graphite RDA really costs in San José
Graphite RDA reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 18 units and 2 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
How we tested graphite in a RDA
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the RDA that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Stock depth: 18 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Spare parts availability for RDA in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
Where graphite goes wrong
- Mixing graphite with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long graphite in San José survives.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Is graphite legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Why does graphite taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the RDA units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the graphite blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should graphite start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a RDA.
