If you only read one line: the starter kit you buy decides how long grapey tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a grapey starter kit really costs in San José
Grapey sounds like one product. It is not: a starter kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested grapey in a starter kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the starter kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every grapey bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Coil type inside the starter kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
Where grapey goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ignoring the batch date on a starter kit and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why grapey tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Packaging for grapey in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
Why does grapey taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the grapey blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should grapey start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a starter kit.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On grapey the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.79 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
