Grapey pod kit IQOS in San José: the deals shortlist
Grapey in San José: 22 units tested over 5 weeks, pod kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the grapey habit
Grapey prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.39 per 10 ml.
Grapey in a pod kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
If you only read one line: the pod kit you buy decides how long grapey tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a grapey pod kit really costs in San José
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
How we tested grapey in a pod kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the pod kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every grapey bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Stock depth: 22 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a grapey bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where grapey goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ignoring the batch date on a pod kit and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why grapey tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Frequently asked questions
How long does grapey in a pod kit last?
In San José we measured 5 to 22 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Why does grapey taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pod kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the grapey blend itself harsh.
Is grapey legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
