Frozen pod kit IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Frozen in San José: 16 units tested over 7 weeks, pod kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Ordering IQOS to San José: the practical version
Frozen in San José reaches the shelf in pod kit formats, and the cheapest ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
Frozen in a pod kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Below is the run we did for this search: 16 units, pod kit, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a frozen pod kit really costs in San José
Frozen sounds like one product. It is not: a pod kit running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested frozen in a pod kit
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the pod kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every frozen bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pod kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Stock depth: 16 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where frozen goes wrong
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Treating the advertised ₡44 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.44 per 10 ml.
- Chasing a discount on a pod kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On frozen the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.44 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
Why does frozen taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pod kit units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the frozen blend itself harsh.
How much does a pod kit cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.44 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡44 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
