Frozen box mod IQOS in San José: the compare shortlist
Frozen in San José: 21 units tested over 9 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
What frozen costs in San José
Frozen in a box mod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Frozen sounds like one product. It is not: a box mod running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
If you only read one line: the box mod you buy decides how long frozen tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a frozen box mod really costs in San José
Frozen in a box mod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested frozen in a box mod
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Stock depth: 21 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Coil type inside the box mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a box mod arrives sealed but wrong.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where frozen goes wrong
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Buying the cheapest box mod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Packaging for frozen in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
How long does frozen in a box mod last?
In San José we measured 9 to 21 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should frozen start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a box mod.
Why does frozen taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the frozen blend itself harsh.
