Frozen box mod IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Frozen in San José: 13 units tested over 6 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with frozen in Costa Rica
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
If you only read one line: the box mod you buy decides how long frozen tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a frozen box mod really costs in San José
We run frozen the same way in San José: same box mod, same 6 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested frozen in a box mod
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every frozen bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a box mod arrives sealed but wrong.
Where frozen goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a box mod that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Buying the cheapest box mod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a box mod cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡1.65 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡55 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On frozen the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡1.65 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
How long does frozen in a box mod last?
In San José we measured 6 to 13 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
