Ordering IQOS to San José: the practical version
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
The honest read on fig: 22 units through the same routine over 2 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
The short version: fig in San José works if the pod kit, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a fig pod kit really costs in San José
We run fig the same way in San José: same pod kit, same 2 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested fig in a pod kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the pod kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Coil type inside the pod kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Spare parts availability for pod kit in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a pod kit arrives sealed but wrong.
Where fig goes wrong
- Mixing fig with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Chasing a discount on a pod kit that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ignoring the batch date on a pod kit and discovering the listed price was for old stock.

Frequently asked questions
Why does fig taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pod kit units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the fig blend itself harsh.
Do you ship tracked orders to Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On fig the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡1.7 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
