Fig box mod IQOS in San José: the compare shortlist
Fig in San José: 15 units tested over 4 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How we tested Fig box mod here
Fig prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.9 per 10 ml.
The honest read on fig: 15 units through the same routine over 4 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
The short version: fig in San José works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a fig box mod really costs in San José
We run fig the same way in San José: same box mod, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
How we tested fig in a box mod
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every fig bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Spare parts availability for box mod in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Coil type inside the box mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
Where fig goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a box mod that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Ignoring the batch date on a box mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.

Frequently asked questions
Do you ship tracked orders to Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Why does fig taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the fig blend itself harsh.
How much does a box mod cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.9 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡32 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
