Dessert pen device IQOS in San José: the cheap shortlist
Dessert in San José: 7 units tested over 9 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Choosing a pen device for dessert
The honest read on dessert: 7 units through the same routine over 9 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
Dessert sounds like one product. It is not: a pen device running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
If you only read one line: the pen device you buy decides how long dessert tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a dessert pen device really costs in San José
Ordering into San José usually means waiting 4–9 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
How we tested dessert in a pen device
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Spare parts availability for pen device in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Batch code and production date, so a dessert bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every dessert bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
Where dessert goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why dessert tastes flat after two days.
- Treating the advertised ₡53 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.2 per 10 ml.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long dessert in San José survives.

Frequently asked questions
Why does dessert taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the dessert blend itself harsh.
How much does a pen device cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.2 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡53 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
How long does dessert in a pen device last?
In San José we measured 9 to 7 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
