Dessert cartomizer IQOS in San José: the compare shortlist
Dessert in San José: 20 units tested over 4 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good cartomizer from a repack
Dessert prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡1.7 per 10 ml.
We run dessert the same way in San José: same cartomizer, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
If you only read one line: the cartomizer you buy decides how long dessert tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a dessert cartomizer really costs in San José
Dessert cartomizer reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 20 units and 4 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
How we tested dessert in a cartomizer
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Spare parts availability for cartomizer in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Batch code and production date, so a dessert bottle turned in 4 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every dessert bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
Where dessert goes wrong
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why dessert tastes flat after two days.
- Mixing dessert with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On dessert the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡1.7 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
Do you ship tracked orders to Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Why does dessert taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the dessert blend itself harsh.
