Cream box mod IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Cream in San José: 9 units tested over 7 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the cream habit
We run cream the same way in San José: same box mod, same 7 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Cream in a box mod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
If you only read one line: the box mod you buy decides how long cream tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a cream box mod really costs in San José
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
How we tested cream in a box mod
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the box mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Batch code and production date, so a cream bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where cream goes wrong
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Ignoring the batch date on a box mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Treating the advertised ₡64 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.64 per 10 ml.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for cream in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.

Frequently asked questions
Why does cream taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the cream blend itself harsh.
What nicotine strength should cream start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a box mod.
How long does cream in a box mod last?
In San José we measured 7 to 9 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
