Cola pen device IQOS in San José: the guide shortlist
Cola in San José: 7 units tested over 3 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How we tested Cola pen device here
If you are looking at cola in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the pen device you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
Cola prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.91 per 10 ml.
The short version: cola in San José works if the pen device, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a cola pen device really costs in San José
Cola sounds like one product. It is not: a pen device running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested cola in a pen device
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Batch code and production date, so a cola bottle turned in 3 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Spare parts availability for pen device in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Stock depth: 7 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where cola goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ignoring the batch date on a pen device and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.

Frequently asked questions
Do you ship tracked orders to Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
Why does cola taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the cola blend itself harsh.
How long does cola in a pen device last?
In San José we measured 3 to 7 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
