Coconut refill pack IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Coconut in San José: 24 units tested over 9 weeks, refill pack formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good refill pack from a repack
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
We run coconut the same way in San José: same refill pack, same 9 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
If you only read one line: the refill pack you buy decides how long coconut tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a coconut refill pack really costs in San José
Coconut prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.81 per 10 ml.
How we tested coconut in a refill pack
- Pick the refill pack that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Spare parts availability for refill pack in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Coil type inside the refill pack, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where coconut goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡64 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.81 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a refill pack that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for coconut in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Why does coconut taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the refill pack units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the coconut blend itself harsh.
Do you ship tracked orders to Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked to 4–9 business days, with the same-day cut-off at 14:00. Bulk orders get an import note attached before dispatch.
How long does coconut in a refill pack last?
In San José we measured 9 to 24 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
